After suffering an injury, many athletes are not eager to return to the sport in which they were injured. Despite breaking his ankle during the 2011 track and field season of his sophomore year, junior Brandon Locke remains eager to join the team again.
“I was pole-vaulting. I landed funny and my ankle broke,” Locke said. Locke was on the track and field team for only two weeks in 2011.
The events that Locke was participating in until his injury were pole-vaulting and long jump, which are the events that he is pursuing this season.
“My brother did pole-vault so I kind of copied him, and long jumping was for friends,” Locke said. “I would like to make it through the whole season without breaking something.”
