As the seasons change during the school year so do the sports for freshman Lindsay Martinez. For Martinez spring time is more than flowers and sunshine. It is tennis season.

 “It’s a change up from the other sports I do because it is individual instead of a team. It’s tough knowing it’s just you out there and you cannot rely on other people,” Martinez said.

Though it is her first year at CMR, it is not this varsity player’s first time on the tennis court.

“I’ve been playing for a really long time and it’s something my family does together,” she said.

The sport has enriched Martinez’s high school experience as she plays the game with some of her friends.

“I like having something to do after school and to keep me busy,” she said.

Martinez also plays in other sports such as soccer and basketball during the other seasons of the year.

Beyond having tennis as a fun pastime, she said she hopes to take the sport further this year and play through her four years at CMR.

 “Definitely going to state in Missoula is what I’m trying to reach and doing my best.”
