The Sound of Music is the biggest show CMR Drama has put on in a long time. It has a huge cast, tons of costumes, crazy lighting, and all kinds of props. Junior Justin Freeny has made it his job to make sure everything runs smoothly.

“I walked up to Mr. Evans and was like ‘hey can I be your stage manager’ and he was like ‘sure’ then I asked if I could do costumes and he was like ‘sure’,” Freeny said.

This isn’t Freeny’s first time, during his sophomore year he was stage manager for the one act called The Lottery. This was when he realized he had a niché for being a stage manager.

“I really like stage managing, I don’t really have much of a desire to actually be on stage as much as I do being backstage, because I can do a lot more backstage, then I could do on stage,” he said.

Freeny said he is super excited for opening night because it is his favorite part. He remembers the thrill he got last year when he was in the light booth calling cues. Aside from being a stage manager. he is also the main costume designer.

“I am responsible for getting all the costumes for the entire cast and doing all the hemming and sewing that needs to be done,” Freeny said.

Freeny is excited to see how The Sound of Music turns out because everyone has put so much work and effort into the show.

“Come and see a great show on Nov. 29, Nov. 30, Dec. 1, and Dec. 6 through the 8.”
