Q&A: Softball’s DellaRossa speaks out

Softball senior Jess DellaRossa, who has been on the CMR team for four years and was part of the state championship team her junior year, spoke recently with staff writer Kim Michelsen about her experience on the team.

Q: What is one of your favorite memories of softball?

A: Probably winning state last year. Winning state is like your goal your whole entire life. Having it be in my high school career is memorable because I’ve played with those girls for so long.

Q: What’s one thing you’ll miss the most about it?

A: Definitely the people. This year it was hard playing without the seniors last year. I’ll miss all my teammates.

Q:  What’s your favorite experience this year?

A: Being the first seed in conference. We were the best team in our conference.

Q: Why did you choose to play softball instead of other sports?

A: My sister played, and she was a really big inspiration. [And] the team that we’ve built. We’ve built our whole lives together playing in the summer. I can’t imagine playing with somebody different.

Q: How do you feel about earning the softball scholarship?

A: It brought back memories of playing Little League. I’m thankful people are here to donate money to play for college because it’s expensive.
