Varsity girls played their last season of basketball; losing 34-31 on Feb.28. However, the stands weren’t only filled with cheers of support for green and gold, but also for the auction towards the Lost Enzyme Project hosted by CMR HOSA to raise money for Oliver. Holding a goal of raising $5,000 towards the cause, HOSA exceeded their expectations by collecting a total of $5,609 donated from the women’s basketball team, $2,328 collected from concessions, and a few additional donations which left them, at a total of $8,100.
Leading the charge was senior and HOSA officer, Shae Sweeney, who played her part in the events organization by setting up basket donations, advertising to the community, preparing sign up sheets, and encouraging her fellow HOSA members.
“I feel awesome about the whole thing! Especially since Oliver is a future rustler,” she said.
Sweeney said she was more than happy to represent her school’s spirit and teamwork and contribute to her community’s commitment towards supporting a worthy cause.
“I’ve been honored to help the project out and help them get the fundraising and community awareness they needed.”
