After jumping from state to state, new English teacher Kate Ott has finally sunk her roots down into Montana. Her desire to travel is still in her bloodstream.
“I kind of Forrest Gumped my way around the world,” she said.
Originally from Ohio, Ott has lived in Texas for four years and Colorado for 12 years. Going on vacation to Glacier and to Yellowstone national parks, she said she found her love for this region of the world. Previously, she worked on a ranch in Oregon and was an outdoor wilderness and backpack guide. Ott was also a part of a conservation program while she was in Oregon.
“The constant is students. Like students are my guiding light,” Ott said.
Teaching and being around students has played a huge role in her life as she has taught French, journalism, yearbook, speech class, credit recovery, English, and academic support. Traveling with students to France, Italy, and Spain, she said she loves being able to communicate with others and to see different global perspectives and cultures.
With her free-flying spirit, love of teaching, and her desire to travel, Ott comes to work everyday with a smile on her face ready to learn from her students and take on the day’s challenges.
