The opportunity to prepare yourself for a future career in business and other powerful jobs can be found in CMR’S “Business Professionals of America” club, also known as BPA, advised by business teacher Jessica Goosen and led by junior Eli Crist. BPA offers students every tool they need to pursue development in fields such as planning, public speaking, and presentations.
All of these are critical skills to help benefit students later on in their education in any pursuit of business. What’s going on with BPA right now is the prep the club is competing for nationals. They competed at state March 9-11, and they will travel to nationals in Florida, competing from May 7-11. They are getting a headstart on this major task by checking off all the steps on their own personally planned itinerary. Crist describes BPA as “a business club where you can compete in either tests, speeches, papers, really anything that has to do with business as a profession.”
Goosen said she has a favorite aspect of advising BPA “Seeing their hard work and their accomplishments and seeing how they succeed from their work and going to nationals [is rewarding],” she said. The club is looking forward to its growth, development and gaining of new members, especially with its welcoming environment that encourages student participation.
BPA offers amazing skills to further students and pushes their technological framework to the max and then some, as the designing of speeches and papers can be a strenuous process, but the rewards and overall self-satisfaction are worth it, according to club members. If an individual is aiming to improve their skills in computers, finances or just maybe the desire to take interest in a new hobby, BPA may be the club for them with its amazing opportunities and open, friendly environment. Room 232’s doors are always open and available for students to broaden their business horizons.
