Surrounding the Charles M Russell tennis courts is a strong fence protecting the courts and the players. It also prevents tennis balls from escaping. However, in recent days the eastern side of the fence appears to be failing at its duty. It’s not only slouching; the chain link structure is practically laying on its side. We at Rustler News and Russellog have our own theories about what happened.
“I thought Eli Crist had a grudge with the fence,” Junior Cody Feist said.
“I think someone sneezed and the fence was the victim,” Senior Riley Seaburg said.
“I think a collection of tennis players were playing for fun and all simultaneously hit the fence” Senior Ian Arthur said.
“There was a herd of bison,” Junior Tanner Ogg said.
“It was probably Charlie to be honest. He hasn’t been liking the lack of school spirit this year. He couldn’t take it out on this beautiful building so he attacked the fence. He regrets his decision but he ran from the scene. How do I know this? He told me in confidence,” Senior Rebecca Stubblefield said.
“I’m pretty sure it was Pat O’ Connell’s pickle ball club,” Journalism teacher Ms. Britton said.
“Someone burped and blew it over,” Senior Maddy Osterman said.
“I think one of the grandmas who played there hit the fence so hard it fell over,” Senior Kira Friesen said.
In the end it was revealed by Jamie McGraw the truth of the matter, setting our assumptions straight.
“It was just the wind.” Principal Mrs. McGraw said.
After a message from one of the local pickleball groups, it became clear that the storm of Aug 20th was to blame for the battered fence. Not exactly shocking–this is Montana, after all, where the weather loves to keep us on our toes.
