Stampede staff member pleased by new album “Midnight Memories”
Rocky edge, falsetto voices, and the charm of one Irish and four British boys make up the sounds of One Direction’s new album, “Midnight Memories.” The journey from “Up All Night” to “Take Me Home” to “Midnight Memories” has allowed their fan base to mature with them. I have been waiting for this album to come out for months, and now that it’s finally here I am not disappointed at all.
I have spent the last week listening to the album on repeat. Their change of sound and quality surprised me. I was also surprised to find the 80’s sound that has taken over some of their songs. A lot of people who have expressed their hatred of them to me said that this album was “surprisingly good” and that their “boy band sound is not really there anymore.”
This new album is probably my most liked out of the three that they have released. My favorite song, being “Happily”, has an upbeat tone that makes me want to get up and dance and just enjoy my time with friends. I also recently found out that the song, “Better Than Words”, has verses that are made entirely up of song titles. I thought it was a creative and interesting take on writing songs.
My love for this album exceeds all the others. I believe that they have come a long way since their start on “The X-Factor.” Hopefully, we will get more from these talented boys in the future. I can’t wait to see what other kind of music and sounds they come up with.
