Leonardo DiCaprio Finally Wins Gold
Everyone’s favorite meme is put to an end as Leonardo DiCaprio FINALLY got his first Academy Award. After being nominated four times, without winning. His fifth nomination for his lead role in the movie “The Revenant” got him the win he has been waiting for.
I have been rooting for him since his role in “Titanic” — a movie that makes me cry every time I watch it. Sadly, “Titanic” didn’t earn him a nomination for an Academy Award.
This seems crazy due to the fact that it held a record for more than 12 years with a total grossing of $1.8 billion dollars.
This success could be because the movie’s plot was so darn good, but it could also be that Leonardo DiCaprio was one of the main stars in it. That is secretly why I chose to watch “Titanic” for the first time, and I doubt I was the only one.
A movie shown in English class and enjoyed by its students should definitely get an award. Yes, I am talking about the movie “Romeo and Juliet”, starring DiCaprio as Romeo. It is hard to keep a student’s attention on one thing for the 45 minutes they are in class, but when we watched “Romeo and Juliet” in class my freshman year — everyone’s eyes could not be taken off the screen — whether it was because we were doing an assignment on the movie or that the actors kept our eyes from wandering.
After 31 years acting, DiCaprio finally proved himself as a phenomenal actor by accepting his Oscar. Many people have been waiting for this day to come, but no one had been waiting longer than DiCaprio himself.
