Students score high in Regional Math Contest

250 students competed in the Great Falls Regional Math Contest held at Great Falls High, and this was sponsored by the Montana Council of Teachers and Mathematicians.

Each regional winner receives $200, but in order to qualify for the scholarship students must be seniors in high school and take the Finite Test, Senior Test and Scholarship Test. The scores from these three tests are then added together and scholarships are awarded to each of the top male and female students.

The winners at the regional level have their scores sent to the state level and are able to compete for a $500 scholarship, awarded to the top male and female students.

After the tests are scored participants receive a rating in the different categories on the tests.  Those who scored in the top 15 percent in certain categories received a superior rating. Many students from CMR scored in the top 15 percent. These students included Ryan Verzuh, Brandon Barnes, Paige Wilson, Jesse Whiteman, Lillian Zimmerman, Britney Gibbs, Hyun Kang, and Bridger Scholten.
