The 2017 Homecoming Coronation set was designed by Lesli Evans and built by CMR’s drama and stagecraft students.

The work that members of the CMR drama department started last week came together in a glittery superhero way at the 2017 Homecoming Coronation assembly Oct. 5 in the CMR fieldhouse.

The set, which included flats featuring Superman, Captain America, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Spider-Man, set the tone for the overall assembly, which also featured performances by drama students portraying superheroes who did not quite attain fame.

Drama department’s Lesli Evans designed the 2017 coronation set, which featured the painting, construction work and heavy lifting of many students, who also set up the stage on the south end of the fieldhouse, where the thrones and podium appear each year.

The drama department’s fall show, “Wait Until Dark,” is set to hit the Bill Williamson stage Dec. 7-9.
