Murray Metge teaches science, advises clubs

Bible study, Science Olympiad, and the “AHA” moments are a few things on Murray Metge’s mind.

Metge has done many things in his life to prepare for teaching, and he has many years of teaching experience.

He attended Brigham Young University to earn his bachelor’s degrees in range science and wildlife management. Metge also went to Eastern Washington to get his teacher’s certification.

“I went because of family,” Metge said.

He has taught more than just science in his 25-year teaching career.

“I’ve taught tech, sixth grade English and science, but science is my favorite,” Metge said. “My favorite thing about teaching is the ‘AHA!’ moment.”

Metge does more than teach, however. He also sponsors Youth Alive and Science Olympiad.

“Youth Alive has Bible study and goes to the mission,” Metge said.
