Locked Bathrooms Solve Long Standing Problems

For students who spend long amounts of time in Bill Williamson Auditorium, the lack of bathrooms may be a prevalent question for most.

About 2 years ago, drama instructor Chris Evans decided to keep the men’s bathroom near the choral room closed. Currently, those who have access to the bathroom are audiences for theatre productions, and the select few with keys.

The initial reasoning for the closure was due to students participating in inappropriate activities such as vaping and vandalism in the bathroom.

“It’s out of the way, you can smoke weed in there, there is no camera. You can vandalize and vape and people used to use it as kind of a lounge,” Evans said.

Evans plans to keep the doors shut for as long as possible. After all, if you don’t have access to a place of continuous conflict, then the problems stop.
